MONTROSE, Colorado -- The new year is starting just as strong as 2016 finished for Ross Reels.
Ross, known for its precision manufacturing and high-end fly fishing products, was given the 2016 Business of the Year honor during the Montrose Chamber of Commerce’s annual gala on Saturday night at the Montrose Pavilion Events Center. The award was presented by the Chamber, as well as Region 10 and the City of Montrose.
Accepting the award in front of the packed house of an estimated 200+ attendees was Tony Lugard, Chief Operating Officer at the company. “This award is quite an honor. We've been part of the Montrose community for over 30 years and our success has largely been from the stewardship of our wonderful team members.”
According to Director of Montrose Business Innovation Chelsea Rosty, who oversees the Montrose Chamber of Commerce, the award was well deserved. She said Ross Reels has been in Montrose for more over 3 decades, and recently expanded its local employment base by 68 percent over a 24 month period. She touted Ross Reels for investing more than $750,000 in machinery and tooling during 2016 in its local factory, helping improve its production and upgrading its facilities.
“I am happy to name Ross Reels the 2016 Business of the Year,” Rosty said, adding Ross Reels also had been recognized in Colorado Business Magazine and has recently won numerous industry design awards.
