Ross Reels

As the rest of the reviewers suggest, this reel is completely unstoppable! I have owned this reel for about 3 months and have logged many hours on the Bighorn here in Easter Montana. It has withstood the test of many fish and constant dialing in of the drag. Last week, I dropped the reel in my garage and bent the reel foot so I am looking forward to Ross's amazing service in helping me get this reel back up and running. Will be purchasing the 1.5 to go with my Winston IM6 4wt!

Purchased the #3 a year or so back. Paired it with a 7 wt rod and I use it to chase snook and redfish in the Everglades. Wonderful quality, smooth drag, top-shelf cosmetics—no complaints so far whatsoever. The drag does seem overmatched against some larger fish, but that's not the reel's fault since 5-7 reel is light by Everglades standards. I'm told these reels were born in a freshwater environment, but this one thrives in the brackish and saltwater environment provided its rinsed after each outing. Will soon pit it against bonefish in Andros, and it's not afraid. Great reel, great value.

Wow, my first day day on the water with this reels was amazing. Very high quality and felt durable, compared to my old reel. This is top notch and worth the money. I wish they are more stylish, but it's all good. Functionality won out, big time!

I have outfitted in Patagonia Chile and Northern California for 20 years + and give the Ross Evolution a 10 rating. So many big browns and rainbows landed on the demo I loan out to clients, I would say this reel keeps big fish on with its smooth drag system and pin point tension capacity. These reels are some of the best I see come into my drift boat. You should own one.

Last Wednesday, I was on the South Platte River between Spinney Mtn and 11 Mile Res for a fantastic day of fly fishing. Using my Evo LT Size 3, it handled all the fish from a 12" to the 24" ones. The largest was in the 7-9 lb range and with 3 long runs into the backing, the reel was worth every penny I spent on it. Thanks for such a fine reel.

I'm looking for a Evo LT Size 2 in the near future.

What is to be Made of this?

The heavy equipment operator acknowledged my presence and waved me around. I wet waded fifty yards below the soon to be re-built bridge over the Guadalupe River. A perfect Hill country trout morning in March. The almost liquid humidity kept the skies overcast. Trout on and landed first cast!
Although retired, I quit golf in 2005 as it became a true indicia of my age. Fly fishing began in 2008 at the urging of Ann’s cousin who lives in Bozeman, Montana. A starter combo opened doors for exercise, enjoyment and competition only as necessary.
Being fortunate enough to have a place on the Blanco River in the Texas Hill country, gave me the opportunity to learn on my own without witnesses. A kayak soon followed as did reasonably nice equipment. The Texas Hill country has seven spring fed rivers. The Guadalupe River is the farthest southerly trout stream in the US, has the largest GRTU membership in the US, and is twenty-Five minutes away. I joined the GRTU lease program in 2009.
Two major trips await this year, a return to the Big Horn River, and a first try at the waters around Jackson Hole. Now became the time to at least appear as if I were a fly fisherman. With help from a buddy who also sells fly fishing equipment, I thoughtfully compared and tried a number of rods. The Orvis Helios 5wt stopped further searching for me. Then the look alone (and maybe reputation somewhat) of the Ross Evolution LT Brown Trout finished my looking. Yesterday would be my first real use.
Where do thoughts come from? Sure I had fantasies about my dream gear, but no thought of a first cast, first hit, first landing came to my mind. But it happened. Thanks to all who make fly fishing what it is for me.

These are phenomenal reels for the price point. I own 8 Ross reels and I can not say enough about the Evo LT.
I land everything that swims with this drag system..

BTW~ match this reel to any manufacturers fly rod and you'll be as impressed as I have always been with the EVO LT and all Ross products.
