The original Ross Cimarron reel was introduced in the 1980’s, and quickly became a hallmark of the Ross brand.  We’ve come a long way since that era in our history, and we felt it’s now better than ever to introduce a reel with the same name to honor this timeless classic.

The ultra-smooth drag found in the Evolution LT has a long and revered history, but our engineering team took this design to the next level. The drag debuting with the LTX is over four times stronger than its predecessors’, while retaining the sound and feel that helped make the Evolution an icon. This allows it to perform not only as a perfect trout reel, but also has the power to take on saltwater game fish like Redfish, Bonefish, and Snook.

The award-winning Evolution R Salt is a breakthrough product, designed with a power-to-weight ratio never before seen in a saltwater fly reel. This makes the R Salt the most unique, best-performing reel per dollar on the water today, all in a stunning package.

LIKE NO OTHER

The Evolution R is the culmination of our engineers’ and machinists’ artistic and technical prowess. It features a fully sealed carbon fiber drag with an industry-best power-to-weight ratio. Encased in a super lightweight frame, all models are less than 5.2 oz. The innovative shape of the ultra-large arbor spool is engineered to force the even winding of the line across the face of the spool as it is retrieved - something never before seen in a fly reel.
